Joshua Kimmich is one of the cornerstones of FC Bayern's game. With his strong performances at the beginning of the season, the 25-year-old was already voted Player of the Month by the record champions' fans in September. And now Kimmich, whom coach Hansi Flick described as a "key player", has defended this title in October. With one goal and three assists in five matches, Kimmich played a major role in helping Bayern once again claim top spot in both the Bundesliga and the Champions League.
It makes it all the more of a shame that Bayern's "mentality monster" (Flick), suffered a knee injury in the match against Borussia Dortmund, and will now be absent until the end of the year.
The record champions fans are also aware of Kimmich's importance and voted the German FCB's outstanding player in October with 31% of the vote. Kimmich beat goalscorer Robert Lewandowski (25%) and Thomas Müller (16%) to the top spot.
1. | Joshua Kimmich | 31% |
2. | Robert Lewandowski | 25% |
3. | Thomas Müller | 16% |
4. | Leon Goretzka | 8% |
5. | Manuel Neuer | 5% |
Goal of the week in the Champions League
It's already the second award that underscores Kimmich's strong performance in October. He'd already won Goal of the Week after Champions League Matchday 2, thanks to a spectacular goal against Lokomotiv Moscow to win the game.
