Less than two hours after the final whistle in Cologne, Bayern were already on the plane back to Munich. As they landed, the good news came that RB Leipzig had lost 1-0 in Gladbach and that FCB were once again top of the Bundesliga table on Matchday 6 thanks to their 2-1 win at Köln.
Eyes on Champions League
It meant the mood was great on Sunday morning when every player who didn’t feature or only had a brief role in Cologne turned up for training. The Champions League balls were already out for them as Hansi Flick and his team immediately turned their focus to the next two difficult fixtures.

Tough away games before international break
On Tuesday, the treble winners head to Salzburg in the Champions League as they look to make it three wins from three in the group stage. To close out an intense period of eight games in 23 days, the Reds then head to Borussia Dortmund with the pair level on points at the top of the table. Another victory will see the champions build a lead in the league before the majority of players head off to join their national teams from 8 November for the international break.
