It was in the 30th minute in the Bundesliga top-of-the-table clash between FC Bayern and RB Leipzig, with the visitors leading 1-0 at the Allianz Arena thanks to an early goal, when the youngest player made his mark in spectacular fashion. Receiving a pass from Kingsley Coman, 17-year-old Jamal Musiala took the ball and struck from 20 yards with a precise long-range shot inside the right post to level the scores at 1-1.
FC Bayern fans honoured the youngster's performance and voted his effort their Goal of the Month for December. With 49% of the vote, he beat Fiete Arp and his fine free-kick in the third division derby against SpVgg Unterhaching into second place (29%). Third place went to Robert Lewandowski's winning goal in the 2-1 victory at home against VfL Wolfsburg (12%).
Third Bundesliga goal for Musiala
For Musiala, who had come on for the injured Javi Martínez just five minutes earlier, it was his third goal for FCB's first team. He had previously scored the final goals in games against FC Schalke 04 (8-0) and Eintracht Frankfurt (5-0). But his goal against Leipzig was by far the most important in the player's young career. In the end, he played an important part in the 3-3 draw against the Saxons.
