The games to watch on Matchday 19

Halfway stage leaders FC Bayern started the second half of the season with a dominant 4-0 win at Schalke last weekend and further extended their lead at the top of the table. RB Leipzig lie seven points behind, and Bayer Leverkusen are ten back in third, with these two teams facing each other on Matchday 19. Find out about the important games this matchday from FC Bayern's point of view!

RB Leipzig vs. Bayer 04 Leverkusen

Kick-off: Saturday, 30.01.2021, 18:30 CET

Significance: Second against third - the top game of Matchday 19 will take place on Saturday evening in Leipzig, where RB (35 points) and Bayer Leverkusen (32) will fight it out to keep in touch with FC Bayern (42). The return fixture in Leverkusen ended 1-1 and the Werkself have only won one of nine Bundesliga matches against RB (4-1 at Leipzig in April 2018).

Key facts: Both teams have struggled to keep up with FC Bayern in recent weeks. Leipzig have won only two of their last six Bundesliga games, Leverkusen one of the last six. Nevertheless, RB (17 goals conceded) and Bayer 04 (18) do boast the two best defences in the league. In addition, Leipzig are the best home team with 22 points from nine games (W7 D1 L1) and only six goals conceded.

Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Hertha BSC

Kick-off: Saturday, 30.01.2021, 15:30 CET

Significance: After just one win from the first five games of the year, Hertha BSC, Bayern's next opponents on Matchday 20, took action and parted company with coach Bruno Labbadia. The former Bayern striker has been replaced by Pál Dárdai, who coached the 14th-placed team for four years from 2015-2019. Eintracht, on the other hand, are the form team in the Bundesliga. The men from Hesse are undefeated in seven games and up to sixth place in the table.

Key facts: Frankfurt prevailed 3-1 in the earlier meeting this season, and could win both Bundesliga games against Hertha for the first time since 2007/08 - especially since Eintracht are still unbeaten at home this season and have won their last two home games. However, Hertha have not been welcome visitors in the past: Eintracht even have a better home record against Bayern than against the Berliners.
