After eight goals in just four appearances, Robert Lewandowski has deservedly defended his crown. Having won the award in February, the Pole was also the darling of the FC Bayern fans in March, collecting the Player of the Month award for the third time in total this season. The 32-year-old received over half the votes (52%), with Thomas Müller (23%) and Leon Goretzka (9%) trailing behind.
Two special hat-tricks
Two starring performances from the previous month stand out in particular. At the start of the month, the Best FIFA Men’s Player was instrumental in the record champions’ comeback in Der Klassiker against Borussia Dortmund, with his hat-trick ensuring that Bayern came from 2-0 down to win 4-2. Two weeks later, the striking superstar bagged another hat-trick in the 4-0 victory with ten men against Stuttgart.

Sadly, Lewandowski cannot continue his hunt for another award for now. The forward is currently sidelined by a knee injury that he sustained at the end of last month on international duty, but after resuming running earlier in the week, Lewandowski had the ball at his feet again on Friday, giving FCB supporters hope that they’ll soon be seeing their March Player of the Month back in action again.
