Flick: I like it when the team plays like that

In the home game against Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern started with a bang, leading 2-0 after just 13 minutes. "I enjoy it when the team plays like they did today in the first half," Hansi Flick enthused afterwards. As it stayed that way until the end and Leipzig had lost earlier in the evening, the men from Munich now have the chance to win the league next Saturday (April 24) in Mainz. "We now have a ten-point lead. So we can and want to close the deal on Saturday," stressed Flick. Here's more reaction to the home win against Bayer.

Reaction from the Bayern camp

Hansi Flick: "I enjoy it when the team plays like they did today in the first half. We wanted to keep a clean sheet in the second half. We managed that as well, so we're more than satisfied. We were also very ruthless. I said to the team before the game that we could take a huge step in the right direction today, and we did. We now have a ten-point lead. So we can and we want to close the deal on Saturday."

Joshua Kimmich: "We had the result from Leipzig in the back of our minds. Chances are there to be taken. We'd already managed to do that at the weekend. It was clear relatively early on which way the game was going to go. In the second half, we lost a bit of momentum. We have a lot of games in our legs and didn't need any more goals- 2-0 was enough. We want to win the title and we're very close. That's our ambition."

Leon Goretzka: "We controlled the game from the start today. We decided things for ourselves very early on, we were there in the 50/50s, moved the ball well and deserved to win in the end. We knew Leipzig's result, but it wouldn't have made a difference if Leipzig had won. What makes us tick is that we want to win every game. We always go out on the pitch to give our best performance."

Reaction from the Leverkusen camp:

Hannes Wolf (Bayer Leverkusen coach): "We had planned a lot and came into the game in good spirits. But after seven minutes their first chance was their first goal. It's not just mindset. Bayern are a strong side now. We had a few attacks where we did well. We risked everything in the end, but didn't quite do it. Now we dust ourselves off, learn from it and we go again in the next game at the weekend."

Sven Bender (Bayer Leverkusen): "If you want to take something away, you can't make any mistakes. You have to play courageously, but we were very tentative, especially in the first half. We didn't play at our best. In the second half, we had our chances, but we were behind from early on. That's when we gave the game away unnecessarily. Bayern played very well, but there could have been more in it for us."
