Which games to watch out for on Matchday 30

The win in Wolfsburg was a very important one for FC Bayern. The defending champions now go into the last five matchdays as league leaders with a seven-point advantage over RB Leipzig. The men from Munich now aim to defend this lead at home against Bayer Leverkusen. Check out here which other games are important for FC Bayern on Matchday 30!

1. FC Köln – RB Leipzig

A goalless draw against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim at the weekend saw RB Leipzig drop two important points in the title race.

Kick-off: Tuesday, 20.04.2021, 18:30 CEST

Significance: As was the case on the last matchday, RB Leipzig have the chance to make up some ground on FC Bayern. Two hours ahead of kick-off at the Allianz Arena, the Bulls take on relegation-threatened 1. FC Köln. With a win, Julian Nagelsmann's team could increase the pressure on FCB, but Köln also need every single point. The Billy Goats are currently three points off the relegation play-off spot.

Key fact: Four wins, two draws, one defeat - that's RB Leipzig's record against the club from the Rhine valley, who's new head coach Freidhelm Funkel will be in the dugout at home for the first time. The Saxons have lost only one of their last 11 league games (1-0 against FC Bayern) and travel to Cologne on the back of an impressive away record: five straight wins, with a 14:1 goal difference. Köln, on the other hand, have gone nine games without a win, with their last three points at home coming on 31 January (3-1 against Bielefeld).

SV Werder Bremen – 1. FSV Mainz 05

Thanks to a 3-2 win in the last match against relegation battle rivals 1. FC Köln, 1. FSV Mainz 05 are now two points clear of the play-off place.

Kick-off: Wednesday, 21.04.2021, 20:30 CEST

Significance: FC Bayern will wrap up the season's last week of midweek football this Saturday (24 April, 15:30 CEST) with an away match at Mainz 05. Ahead of that, the team from the Rhineland, who didn't play last weekend due to COVID-19 cases at Hertha BSC, face a very important match in the relegation battle. 14th-placed Mainz are away to 13th-placed Werder Bremen. The Zero-fivers are currently two points above the relegation play-off spot and also two points behind Werder.

Key fact: Mainz had just seven points at the midway point of the season, but since the short winter break they've picked up 21 points. Three wins and two draws in the last five games have given them a small buffer to the drop zone, so another three points against Bremen would be hugely important. However, with only nine wins from 29 games against Werder (with 6 draws and 14 defeats), the stats are in favour of the team from the north.
