FC Bayern are very close to their ninth league title in a row. With a win on Saturday (15:30 CEST) at 1. FSV Mainz 05, the men from Munich can secure the title with three games to spare. Here's the lowdown on some other important games on MD31.
RB Leipzig vs. VfB Stuttgart
KO: Sunday, 25.04.2021, 15:30 (all times CEST)
Need to know: After RB Leipzig only managed to pick up one point from their last two games, Bayern's lead over the team in second place has grown to ten points. In the event that FCB do not win in Mainz on Saturday, the title could still be clinched if Stuttgart lend Bayern a helping hand. If Leipzig do not pick up more points at home against Stuttgart on Sunday (3:30CEST) than the Munich team did the day before in Mainz, the title will be Bayern's. Stuttgart, however, have slipped to tenth place in the table after three defeats in a row.
Stats corner: The head to head so far between Leipzig and Stuttgart speaks for itself: RB have won four of the five games so far and have drawn once. However, Leipzig's home form has deserted them ahead of the renewed clash with VfB: The Saxons have failed to win any of their last three games at home.
Borussia Mönchengladbach vs. DSC Arminia Bielefeld
KO: Sunday, 25.04.2021, 18:00
Need to know: After a weekend without a match, FC Bayern will host Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday, 8 May for the penultimate home match of the season. Before the clash with FCB, the Foals have a home game against Arminia Bielefeld on Sunday. After Gladbach gave away a two-goal lead in Hoffenheim (losing 3-2) during the week, Marco Rose's team now desperately need a win to remain in contention for a European place. Opponents Bielefeld, however, also need every point in their fight against relegation.
Stats corner: In the 39 matches between Gladbach and Bielefeld to date, Borussia have won 23 of them. Arminia have won eight times, and the match has also ended in a draw eight times. Bielefeld enter the match in strong form, with DSC unbeaten for four games. Gladbach recently suffered that setback against Hoffenheim after picking up ten points from four games.
