He's done it again! Leon Goretzka, winner of the fan poll for the FC Bayern March Goal of the Month, has repeated his success from the previous month and won again in April. In the top Bundesliga match between FC Bayern and RB Leipzig, Goretzka scored the only goal in the 1-0 win with an unstoppable shot from twelve metres, as his team took another important step towards the German title.
Wafer-thin lead over Musiala
Goretzka's brilliant shot caused enthusiasm among the fans of the record champions. They chose the 26-year-old's goal for their FC Bayern Goal of the Month for April. With 31.3% of the votes cast, Goretzka narrowly prevailed over youngster Jamal Musiala's header to make it 3-1 against VfL Wolfsburg (31.0%). Third place went to Hanna Glas' winning goal to make it 2-1 in the UWCL semi-final first leg against Chelsea (23.6%).
Goretzka crowned a very strong run of form with his winning goal against Leipzig, his seventh goal involvement in five games (three goals, four assists). He picked up the Goal of th Month for the fourth time after November 2019, January 2020 and March 2021. Unfortunately, the season ended prematurely for the Germany international due to a torn muscle fibre suffered in the game against Borussia Mönchengladbach (6-0).
