Robert Lewandowski raised the bar once again last season – and now the 32-year-old has been voted Footballer of the Year by German sports magazine Kicker in a survey of sports journalists!
President Herbert Hainer, CEO Oliver Kahn and board member for sport Hasan Salihamidžić congratulated the striking superstar on behalf of FC Bayern:
Herbert Hainer: “Many congratulations, Robert! The award of Germany’s Footballer of the Year is the logical consequence of an outstanding season and your Bundesliga goals record. We’re proud to have the best striker in the world at FC Bayern.”
Oliver Kahn: “The fact that Robert has now won this special award for the second time in a row is evidence of his tremendous quality and his unbelievable hunger. I’m sure this accolade will give Robert even more drive and motivation.”
Hasan Salihamidžić: “Robert’s qualities are undisputed. He’s broken the Bundesliga goals record and was also the top goalscorer in Europe last season. I’m very happy for Lewy about this award, which of course is always a credit to the whole team as well.”
“It's a source of great pride and joy for me,” said Lewandowski on the award:
