Unique content for the record social media season

Before the start of the new Bundesliga season in Mönchengladbach today, we take the opportunity to look at the content highlights of last season. With over 15 billion interactions on social media, FC Bayern posted its widest-reaching season since the channels were launched! With a varied mix of title graphics, movie posters, memes and much more, over 700 million likes were achieved in the year from July 2020 to June 2021. We we've summarised the most successful digital content and present the top posts from the most exciting format categories.

Six titles in one year - only FC Barcelona managed this before FC Bayern (2009)

Title graphics

The sporting success - including the Champions League and Cup triumph from 2020 due to the pandemic - is reflected in over 20 title graphics. The top 5 graphics alone achieved almost ten million interactions. From this emerges the most successful social media graphic in club history: The key Champion League visual cracked the 1 MILLION LIKES mark on Instagram!

Contextual graphics

Graphics are firmly integrated into the content mix, which the players and the team stage in a special world of images: film covers, KINGsley Coman and much more. The five best of these 30 special graphics achieved more than four million interactions. Number one was record scorer Robert Lewandowski:

Memes

Equally as as popular, more and more memes were produced. The humorous images regularly generate viral hits. This includes the popular "Vince McMahon Reaction", reaching over seven million fans on Instagram alone.

YouTube Videos

Around 160,000 new fans were won directly via the top 5 YouTube clips. Stand-out for the season was the "Copy the Penalty Challenge" between Thomas Müller and Robert Lewandowski as part of the Audi Digital Summer Tour. With more than 12 million views, the clip ranks fourth among all videos from the top clubs that have gone online since August 2018.

TikToks

Around 70 million views for the top 5 TikToks show the large reach potential of the still young short video platform. In first place is Alphonso Davies' solo run in the record victory against FC Barcelona with over 30 million views. FC Bayern are in 6th place for the most successful TikToks in comparison with the top European clubs.
