World Cup holders France, featuring Bayern's Kingsley Coman, had to settle for a point again in their second qualification match of this international window. Just as they did three days earlier against Bosnia and Herzegovina, the world champions could only manage a 1-1 draw in Ukraine.
Coman involved in equaliser
Winger Coman was named in the French starting line-up and initiated his side's equaliser with a cross from the right to Adrien Rabiot, who flicked it on for goalscorer Anthony Martial (50'). That came after Mykola Shaparenko had put the hosts ahead just before half-time with a marvellous long-range shot. The Équipe Tricolore were then unlucky not to snatch a late winner when Moussa Diaby, who came on for Coman, struck the post. France remain top of Group D with nine points. This Tuesday they face second-placed Finland, who have five points but have played two games less.
