FC Bayern honoured with ECA Chairman’s Award 2021

FC Bayern München was recognised for its leading role and outstanding commitment in European club football at the 26th general assembly of the European Club Association (ECA) in Geneva today. The German record champions have received the ECA Chairman’s Award, which was awarded for the first time this year.

Dr. Michael Gerlinger: Great recognition and incentive

“It fills us with pride to be the inaugural winners of this important award,” said Dr. Michael Gerlinger, director of legal affairs at FC Bayern München AG, who has represented the German record champions on the ECA executive board since 2017 and accepted the award on behalf of the club. “For FC Bayern this is a great recognition, but also an incentive to continue and promote close cooperation between European clubs in the future. Everyone knows the significance of the ECA in our club. For that reason, we will not rest on the successful development of the association, but will continue to be strongly involved and live up to our leading role.”

Starting this year, the ECA Chairman’s Award recognises tireless efforts within the association as well as extraordinary contribution to the development of European club football. The award winners should act as an inspiration to all other members, and stand for close cooperation among each other and the common goals and values of the ECA.
