Scoring a goal in the Champions League like Robert Lewandowski or making a stunning save at a sold-out Allianz Arena like Manuel Neuer: these are the things that young football talents all around the world dream of. Over the last six months, FC Bayern has given 15 young players from 15 countries the unique opportunity to seize this chance and perhaps even make it as a pro themselves – and you can follow their journey!
With this series, FC Bayern is breaking new ground thematically in sports documentaries and providing insights into how football can unite people from different cultures. It also embodies FC Bayern values such as tolerance and diversity, which go beyond the boundaries of the football pitch.
As of Thursday, the first episode of the six-part documentary about the FC Bayern World Squad will be shown on the German record champions’ YouTube channel. The remaining episodes will follow on a weekly basis, allowing you to experience the complete journey of this “extraordinary world team” – as Jörg Wacker, FC Bayern München AG board member for internationalisation and strategy, put it – from training to the selection process through to the absolute highlight of a match against the FC Bayern U19s.
“To get an opportunity like this is a dream for the boys,” said Giovane Élber, who accompanies the FC Bayern World Squad as a mentor together with coaches Klaus Augenthaler and Christopher Loch. The Brazilian knows what he’s talking about. The former Bayern striker lived the dream of professional football – just as the likes of Alphonso Davies and Jamal Musiala are doing now. The two youngsters were on hand to offer advice to the selected youngsters on how to take the final step into the professional game and will also be featured in the series. So, tune in!
