Bundesliga starts on 5 August: The schedule for the 2022/23 season

FC Bayern are away to Union Berlin on Saturday on Matchday 10 in the current Bundesliga campaign. And next season is already looming on the distant horizon: The DFB has agreed the 2022/23 outline schedule on Friday.

Special scheduling due to the 2022 World Cup

The 2022/23 Bundesliga season starts on the weekend of 5 to 7 August 2022. The 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, from 21 November to 18 December 2022, has a significant effect on the fixtures. It will bring a two-month winter break in Germany. The final Bundesliga matchday (Matchday 15) in 2022 will be played on the weekend of 11 to 13 November. After the World Cup and the ensuing winter break, the Bundesliga restarts on 20 January 2023. The last matchday of the 2022/23 season has been set for Saturday 27 May 2023.

DFB Cup dates

Next season’s DFB Cup starts between 29 July and 1 August 2022. The 2022 Supercup between the champions of Germany and the DFB Cup winners will be played on the same weekend on Saturday 30 July. The two ties in the first round of the DFB Cup involving the Supercup teams will be played on 30 and 31 August 2022. The DFB Cup final will be played on 3 June 2023.
