Manuel Neuer chosen as fifth-best goalkeeper in the world

Manuel Neuer came fifth in the Yashin Trophy, the award for the world's best goalkeepers organised by French magazine France Football. The winner was Gianluigi Donnarumma of Paris Saint-Germain. The award was announced on Monday evening at the Ballon d'Or ceremony in Paris.

Numerous records for the 2020 best FIFA Men's Goalkeeper

Neuer, who was last year voted the Best FIFA Men's Goalkeeper, once again set numerous records in 2021. He became a Bundesliga title winner for the ninth time, more often than any other goalkeeper ever. In addition, the 35-year-old broke the Bundesliga record for number of clean sheets in the league (currently at 203). The two-time treble winner played his 124th Champions League game last week, equalling Gianluigi Buffon's tally. The only goalkeeper to have played more games in the competition is Iker Casillas (177).
