FC Bayern honoured its long-standing members on Sunday. In consideration of the health of all participants, the traditional event took place in digital form due to the pandemic. After the day had to be postponed last year due to COVID, this time those who would have been honoured in 2020 for their extraordinary loyalty were also recognised.
Event with Hainer, Mennekes, Roth and Augenthaler
Those celebrating their anniversary were able to enjoy a unique show in their honour via a stream on the website. Hosted by stadium PA Stephan Lehmann, the presidential team of Herbert Hainer and Walter Mennekes along with guests Franz "Bulle" Roth and Klaus Augenthaler immersed themselves in FC Bayern's rich and successful history.

1,159 members honoured
A total of 1,159 members were honoured for their 35-, 50-, 60-, 70- and even 75-year loyalty. Among them was honorary vice-president Prof. Dr. Fritz Scherer (50 years of membership) and former Bayern pro Hans-Georg "Katsche" Schwarzenbeck, who, like all those celebrating 60 years of membership, was made an honorary member. In Ludwig Pfirstinger and Fritz Grininger, two members were honoured for no less than 75 years of FC Bayern membership.
Invitation to FC Bayern home game
"FC Bayern is recognisable as having a special feeling of community belonging. We are one family. That's why it was important to us to have this tribute day – unfortunately not in person, because we had to take the health of all participants into consideration," said president Hainer. "However, we will still invite all our celebrating members to a match at the Allianz Arena to thank them again for their extraordinary loyalty."
Gerd Müller and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge were honoured at this year's Bavarian Sports Awards:
