6 facts on 6 group stage wins for Bayern

Simply flawless: Bayern celebrated their sixth win in six on Wednesday evening in the Champions League group stage with a 3-0 win over FC Barcelona. With that, Bayern swept comfortably into the last 16 after topping their section. Here are all the facts from a perfect group stage:

1. Club record equalled

Bayern won 3-0 in Barcelona to kick off the group stage and followed it up with another 3-0 win over the Catalans to close out the group on Wednesday.

With 18 points and +19 goal difference (22 for, 3 against), Bayern have equalled the record for the best UCL group stage. It was previously 18 points and a 24-5 goal difference ratio and was set by none other than Bayern, when they went on to win the Champions League in the 2019/20 season.

2. Only Real and Bayern have twice achieved 100% records

Before Bayern, Real Madrid had occupied the top position in terms of the best-ever group stage performance: in 2011/12, they racked up 18 points and +17 GD, and in 2014/15 they picked up 18 points with a +14 goal difference. Alongside the Spaniards, FC Bayern are the only club to have achieved a 100% group stage twice in the UCL.

3. Simply unbeatable in the group stage

Bayern have gone 28 group games unbeaten in the UCL.

FCB have gone 28 group-stage game unbeaten in the Champions League (25 wins, three draws). Their last defeat came in September 2017, a 3-0 loss at Paris Saint Germain. It was also the last match in the elite competition in which the record champions didn't score - since then, the reds have scored 93 goals in group games.

4. Strong at the back and going forward

Manuel Neuer celebrated his fourth clean sheet of the UCL season against Barcelona.

The Bavarians have kept four clean sheets this season - no other team has done so more often. With 22 goals in their six group games, they also have the best attack in the competition.

5. New best for Sané

Leroy Sané made it 2-0 against Barcelona with a long-range shot.

Leroy Sané scored to make it 2-0, his fifth UCL goal of the season, to set a new personal best for a single campaign, which previously stood at four goals in the 2018/19 campaign, when he was at Manchester City.

6. Bayern's serial offenders

Robert Lewandowski set up Thomas Müller's opener and has been directly involved in at least one goal in each of his last ten games in this competition (14 goals, two assists) - what an incredible strike rate!

On Wednesday, Thomas Müller did what he always does against Barcelona - score goals:
