Bayern backing Neuer and Lewandowski

Tonight, the eyes of the football world turn to Zurich. At The Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony, the world governing body will select the best footballers of 2021. With Robert Lewandowski (The Best FIFA Men‘s Player 2021) and Manuel Neuer (The Best FIFA Men‘s Goalkeeper), two FC Bayern players have hopes of winning a coveted award. Everyone at the record champions has their fingers crossed for both of them.

"It's important for every footballer when you win awards and honours, both on a team and personal level," said head coach Julian Nagelsmann on Saturday after the 4-0 away win at 1. FC Köln. Speaking about Lewandowski, the 34-year-old said: "I would be very happy if he won it, it would be well-deserved. Besides the goals, one of his great qualities is that he wants to, and can, initiate lots of attacks and then sprints into the box and waits for a cross or rebound."

Teammates on Neuer and Lewy

Their teammates are also rooting for Neuer and Lewandowski. "I wish for both of them that they win their respective awards. They've both been very consistent in recent years at levels no one else has played at in their position. That's why they deserve it," winger Serge Gnabry said. Defender Benjamin Pavard explained why Lewy and Neuer deserved their awards: "Simply because they are both great players, legends. They show that every day. It's a great pleasure to play with players like them. I hope with all my heart that they win their awards." The whole club is rooting for its two guys!
