Thomas Müller is FC Bayern’s Player of the Month for January 2022
Title defended - or simply: he continues to Müller the opposition! After winning the award in December, Bayern veteran Thomas Müller was once again top of the fan charts for the German record champions in January: With 34 percent of the total votes cast, the attacker secured the first FC Bayern Player of the Month award of the new year - Corentin Tolisso (24%) and Robert Lewandowski (15%) came in second and third.
One goal and three assists in three games
The 32-year-old picked up an impressive four goal involvements - one goal and three assists - in his three appearances in January. In the 4-0 win away at 1. FC Köln, the ten-time German Bundesliga winner became the first player to break the 150-assists mark in the Bundesliga (since detailed data started to be collected) - and there's no end in sight here. "It's just fun to contribute to the team's success and be directly involved in goals," said the attacker after the win in the Rhineland.
Müller proved that he still has an eye for scoring goals just a week later when he reacted fastest to a free kick from Joshua Kimmich in the 4-1 away win against Hertha BSC, steering the ball over the line in old-school Müller fashion to make it 2-0. The native Bavarian is therefore still in top form - and there's seemingly nothing stopping him from collecting a third successive Player of the Month gong. After all, Müller knows all about trebles.
Thomas Müller was also at his best in February against RB Leipzig:
