It's game on again! The FC Bayern Esports team will compete in Konami's eFootball Championship Pro in June. Eight top European clubs will play each other with their professional Esports teams in a three-week showdown. Coach Matthias Luttenberger's Bayern team still consists of the three Spaniards José Carlos Sánchez, Miguel Mestre and Alex Alguacil.
The draw last Saturday put FCB up against Glasgow Celtic, Monaco and Manchester United in Group A. Group B sees Galatasaray, Barcelona, Arsenal and Roma fighting it out.
In the group stage, there will be three games against each of the opponents, with the aim of collecting points for the final table. Three points will be awarded for each win and one point for a draw, so a team will be able to earn up to 27 points in the group stage. The first-placed team will qualify directly for the semi-finals, while the runners-up in each group will play the third-placed team from the other group in an intermediate round. The fourth-placed team will be eliminated.
Bayern start their campaign against two teams this Saturday, 11 June. Three matches against Manchester United will be followed by a further three against Celtic. On Sunday, 19 June, Luttenberger and Co. will finish the group stage by playing Monaco. The finals will be played on 25 and 26 June.
