The Allianz FC Bayern Team Presentation on Saturday had plenty to offer for young and old, but the biggest news of the day came from this man: Serge Gnabry is staying at Bayern until at least 2026! The mood was suitably buoyant at the press conference afterwards. “It’s something special when you can play for titles with your friends, your brothers,” emphasised the winger, who recently turned 27. The contract extension: “I’m hugely excited about staying here and the new season with the team. I’m just happy.”

The new signings: “They’re all great characters and they’ve integrated into the squad really well. For our objectives and the fact we’re in a lot of competitions, it’s important we’ve added strength in depth.”

Joshua Kimmich: “Of course I know it was important for him, but it’s just as nice for me that I can continue playing together with Leroy, Joshua and Leon. It’s something special when you can play for titles with your friends, your brothers, and that’s our aim.”

I’m glad that he’s staying because I also really like him on a personal level.”
