Serge Gnabry: “It all looks good”
FC Bayern got their pre-season off to a winning start on Wednesday evening with a 6-2 victory over DC United on the Audi Summer Tour in the USA. "The most important thing is that we won. That's what matters, even in pre-season games. It's important to get that desire to win," said head coach Julian Nagelsmann after the final whistle. Sadio Mane and Matthijs de Ligt both scored on their debuts for the club. "That's good for confidence. The new signings are top guys, have top quality and are introducing themselves well," added Serge Gnabry, who got the goal to make it 3-0. fcbayern.com rounds up the reaction to the game.
Julian Nagelsmann: "The most important thing is that we won. That's what matters, even in pre-season games. It's important to get that desire to win. I wanted to see the things we've practised in training in detail. It was important today that the players were always alert in a new formation and that we find the best attacking positions and are good in our gegenpressing. We need to improve that counter-pressing because we conceded too many goals last season. That was the most important point today. I was pleased with it in the first half. It was okay in the second. The gaps between the players were too big there to defend well. At the end of the day, it's always about observing the details from the training sessions in pre-season matches."

Thomas Müller: "We can essentially say the game was positive. The stadium was cool, with fireworks coming out after every goal. We set up for variety and flexibility in attack. Nobody has a designated section there. So, there's a lot possible."
Serge Gnabry: "It was fun. We clicked together. It's always tough to get into the first game, but it's a good result. It's great for Sadio that he scored his first goal for us after just five minutes. That's good for confidence. The new signings are top guys, have top quality and are introducing themselves well. It all looks good."
