The schedule for the opening stages of the season is set. On Friday, the Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL) announced the dates and kick-off times for Matchdays 1 to 7, up to the first international break in mid-September. One week after the opening game at Eintracht Frankfurt, which was already scheduled for Friday 5 August (20:30*), Bayern will play their first home match of the campaign against VfL Wolfsburg on Sunday 14 August (17:30).
The visit to VfL Bochum on Sunday 21 August (17:30) is followed by the first Saturday primetime clash of the season as the champions host Borussia Mönchengladbach at the Allianz Arena on Saturday 27 August (18:30). In September, Julian Nagelsmann's side face matches away to 1. FC Union Berlin (3 September), at home to VfB Stuttgart (10 September) as well as the local derby at FC Augsburg (17 September), with all three fixtures kicking off at 15:30 on Saturdays.
