FC Bayern mourn the passing of Jakob Fröhler, the long-standing head of the Skittles section, who has died at the age of 81. Fröhler joined the club on 1 July 1983 and he took over from Hans Schiefele as head of department in 1987.
Walter Mennekes, responsible for the departments at FC Bayern eV as second vice-president of the club: "In Jacob Fröhler, the FC Bayern family has lost a very special person who always had a sympathetic ear and provided good advice over many decades. People like him are a mark of our club as FC Bayern is more than just our players in the public eye. People like Jakob Fröhler make FC Bayern into a home for everybody who loves sport. He was a member you could always rely on. We will miss him very much and our thoughts are with his family."
The Skittles department at FC Bayern has been closely associated with the Jakob Fröhler since it was founded in 1983. He started as deputy to the later vice-president Schiefele before later taking over. As a young man, he was champion of Germany three times with the Munich city team.
