The full episode as video:

Kimmich believes FC Bayern are well equipped for the new campaign. “We’ve had a relatively long pre-season by our standards. We’ve worked well and trained very intensely.“ In order to remain successful after the departure of Robert Lewandowski, it’s particularly about “the collective, that we defend better on the one hand, and on the other have more players scoring more goals”. The new signings such as Sadio Mané and Matthijs de Ligt should also play an important role. “My first impression is that everything fits. We know they’re all guys with sporting quality. They’re good guys who want the maximum, and that’s why they’re here,” says Kimmich, who sees it as a big advantage that “we had a lot of the new signings here at the start. Then we have the time to get to know each other.”

Bayern’s midfield instigator also talks in the podcast about his life as a father of three. “It just gives you another kind of level. You learn that other things are important. At home you get a bit of distance because you also have other duties and jobs,” he adds. “I am happy and proud of my family. You get a lot back, it’s great fun.”
