Thomas Müller: Remaining happy yet humble

Leipzig, Frankfurt, Wolfsburg - three tough teams at the start of the season for Bayern to face, and yet FC Bayern followed up their statement victory in the Supercup and a stunning display in Frankfurt with their first clean sheet of the campaign, beating Wolfsburg 2-0. "We are very happy with today," said head coach Julian Nagelsmann, discussing the side's successful start to the season. Like Thomas Müller, he also emphasised the "control" Bayern had against the Wolves. Read reaction from both camps below:

Reaction from the Bayern camp:

Board member for sport Hasan Salihamidžić: "We created some good opportunities. We built up pressure in front of the goal. Overall, it was a good, fast-paced and controlled game, we kept a clean sheet too, which is important."

Head coach Julian Nagelsmann: "In the second half, it was all about control for us. We wanted to have more possession and direct the game. We wanted to show more energy in the first half to be honest, but Wolfsburg stood up well physically. We could have scored a third towards the end, there were also many times we were caught out offside. It's a deserved win, we had 24 shots on goal. We've had three good opponents at the start of the season and we've been able to beat all three, so we are very happy with that."

Thomas Müller: "It wasn't a goal fest like the first two games. Wolfsburg played a lot of long balls very early on. It took a little while but then we got into our stride. In the second half we controlled the game. What made me most happy was that it was our first game back at home. The fans were excellent, the noise was great; the weather was wonderful, the pitch was excellent - and then we won 2-0 on top of that. All in all: to keep a clean sheet does Manu [Neuer] a world of good too. We're happy. We all had fun and we're remaining happy yet humble. I'm looking forward to the next week of training already."

Jamal Musiala: "Things are going really well for us. We're playing good football, even in training. In the first few minutes we didn't get into the game well, we didn't have as high energy levels as we should. But then we got into it really well and scored our goals. I always try to give everything. We are flexible and rotate a lot up front, there's plenty of movement. It's just fun to be a part of this team. There are always things you can improve on. We have to keep doing that and always try to keep clean sheets."

Alphonso Davies: "It was good. We went into the game with good energy and wanted to win the game for our fans. After all, it was the first game here at home this season."

Reaction from the VfL Wolfsburg camp:

Niko Kovac (VfL Wolfsburg head coach): "We fought with everything we had, we made it difficult for Bayern. In the beginning the guys did well, and then it got more difficult. But it was all right. FCB are too strong for us. The goals they scored were a bit lucky, Thomas Müller's goal was typical him. With the speed Bayern have, you have to look at how far you go forward yourself. It's difficult to defend that. I'm happy with the way we tried today, but of course not happy with the result."

Maximilian Arnold (VfL Wolfsburg): "Bayern are a different class. Despite that, we had plenty of opportunities and you just have to score one of those. Everything needs to go well here to take something home. We fell behind too much in the first half. We were a bit better in the second half, but we didn't hide. Based on the number of chances, the result for Bayern is a deserved one, they were clearly the better team."
