Full speed ahead! After the triumph in the DFL Supercup at RB Leipzig on Saturday, FC Bayern began the final preparations for the start of the new Bundesliga season on Tuesday morning. The Munich men visit Eintracht Frankfurt on Friday evening (20:30 CEST) in the opening match. Coach Julian Nagelsmann put his men through their paces for a good two hours at the training ground on Säbener Straße, in a session that featured numerous tactical drills as well as some high-intensity running.
It will be a case of further fine-tuning in the remaining days leading up to the start of the league campaign. “We’ve got big ambitions this year and want to compete at the top in every competition,” said winger Serge Gnabry on Saturday after the first trophy of the season already. “In the Bundesliga we want to defend our title, in the cup we want the trophy and in the Champions League we want to go as far as possible,” he added.
Choupo-Moting trains individually
There was good news regarding Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. The striker, who has been absent recently due to groin and hip problems, did a running session on Tuesday. No date has been set yet for when the 33-year-old can return to full training.
