Greeted by rapturous applause as they headed over to the Südkurve to the tune of club anthem Forever Number One, birthday boy Thomas Müller & Co. had more than one reason to celebrate after FC Bayern’s 2-0 victory over Barcelona. In making it two wins from two in this season's Champions League, the men from Munich also equalled a competition record.
FC Bayern unbeaten in 30 group games
Germany's record champions have not lost in 30 group games in Europe's most prestigious club competition. It's an achievement matched only by Real Madrid (2012 to 2017). Bayern have recorded 27 wins in that time, whilst drawing three, and have now won their last nine group matches in a row - seven clean sheets among them. What's more, Bayern have started a Champions League campaign with two successive wins for the 14th time - a competition first.
Bayern consolidate strong Barca record
There's just something about facing Barcelona that brings the best out of Bayern. Having also beaten the Catalans home and away in last season's groups, Germany's record champions have now won 10 of the pair's 14 meetings in European competition, drawing and losing two.
