The idea came about two years ago during a conversation between Bayern president Herbert Hainer and Dr Wolfgang Heubisch, vice-president of the Bavarian State Parliament. At first, the pandemic prevented its implementation, but on Thursday evening the time had come as the Fanclub Bayerischer Landtag - Bavarian Parliament Fan Club – celebrated its founding with 46 members. Hainer travelled with Raimond Aumann, director of fan and fan club support, directly from the 3-0 victory in the Champions League at Barcelona to be present at the ceremony. Among others, the Bavarian Minister of the Interior Joachim Herrmann and Bavaria's Minister of Justice Georg Eisenreich were also present in the Akademiesaal.
President Hainer stated that FC Bayern was proud that there was now also a fan club in the state parliament. Many MPs had turned up in the club’s jerseys in keeping with the occasion. "It's just nice that football and the common passion for FC Bayern unites everyone - even politicians who otherwise represent different colours." The fan club is composed across party lines, but without representatives of the Alternative für Deutschland party (AfD) - this is also the case with the FC Bayern fan club in Germany’s Federal Parliament, which was founded back in 2014 and to which Hainer referred with a wink: It was high time that the Bavarian State Parliament followed suit with a counterpart here. The president took this opportunity to thank politicians for their general support for the German record champions.
"When five current ministers of state, two vice-presidents, a state secretary and 38 members of the Bavarian State Parliament come together across party lines, it means something big," Heubisch explained during his speech, looking into the hall. "To honour one of the best clubs in the world and to express our solidarity, we have founded the FC Bayern Fanclub Bayerischer Landtag.” Heubisch will lead the fan club as chairman together with vice-chair Ulrike Scharf, State Minister for Family, Labour and Social Affairs. "For me, FC Bayern is the flagship par excellence for Munich and Bavaria, unique for the Munich region, for Bavaria, Germany and the world, both in terms of football but also as an economic factor," said the former State Minister for Science, Research and the Arts. "It was a great honour for us that Herbert Hainer and Raimond Aumann were present at the founding meeting."
The evening ended in typical Bavarian style with beer and pretzels - and with many shared photos.
