Crunch time for FC Bayern on Wednesday evening at 21:00 CET! Coach Julian Nagelsmann's team host Paris Saint-Germain at the Allianz Arena in the second leg of the Champions League last 16 tie. Enjoy the facts and stats on the match, and find out what the Reds'chances are following their 1-0 victory in the first leg in Paris.
1. Advantage FCB
FC Bayern go into the second leg in a good position thanks to the 1-0 win in Paris. In the 22 cases in which the men from Munich have won the first leg of a knockout duel in the Champions League, they have progressed 20 times and been eliminated only twice. After an away win in the first leg, Bayern have only been eliminated from Europe's elite club competition in one of 10 cases (2010/11 against Inter Milan).
2. Bayern defence as trump card
Bayern have not conceded a goal in six of their seven matches in the current Champions League campaign (best record in the competition). Most recently, FCB have kept three consecutive clean sheets - four would would equal a club record (last achieved in 2021). The Bavarians are only the fifth team ever to concede no goals six times in the first seven games of a Champions League season - the previous four teams all reached the final.
3. FCB as good as 2019/20, the treble season
FC Bayern have won all seven matches so far in the current Champions League campaign. The German record champions have only managed this once before: in the historic 2019/20 treble-winning season.
4. Fortress Allianz Arena
FC Bayern have won 15 of their last 17 home matches in the Champions League (one draw, one defeat). However, the only defeat in this period came in the 2020/21 quarter-finals against Paris Saint-Germain (3-2). In their last 44 UCL home games, Munich have only once fallen to defeat with a difference of more than one goal, the 3-1 loss to Liverpool in the last 16 second leg in 2018/19. A repeat of that would mean elimination against PSG this time round.
5. Honours even in the fixture
The success in the first leg enabled FC Bayern to level up their overall record against Paris Saint-Germain. Of the 12 previous meetings, both teams have now won six, with FCB winning five of the last seven. Bayern have also won three of their last four home games against the Paris giants.
Following an important Bundesliga victory at Stuttgart, Bayern's focus is now fully on PSG:
