FC Bayern Esports Matchday 5

FC Bayern Esports beat Arsenal and climb to second

FC Bayern Esports beat Arsenal FC in a top-of-the-table clash on Matchday 5 of the eFootball Championship Pro. Matthias Luttenberger’s team of José Carlos SánchezMiguel Mestre and Mücahit Sevimli picked up six points in Saturday‘s contest against the Gunners. It didn’t get off to a promising start for Munich, with Sevimli losing 2-1 to his opponent Mikolaj “Ostrybuch” Zietek in the opening game. Mestre then turned the momentum in Bayern’s favour with a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Marko “Roksa22” Roksic. The clearest result of the day came in the final game as Sánchez despatched Yos “INDOMINATOR” Sonneveld 4-0, collecting three more points and ensuring that FC Bayern Esports moved about the Londoners in the table by virtue of their now better goal difference.

Sanchez: Showed I’m a complete player

“The match was important for us. We’re in second place now,” summarised Sánchez afterwards. “A lot of people regard me as just a defensive player, but when I have to attack I attack, and when I have to defend I defend. Today I showed I’m a complete player.” Regarding the new and improved in-game Kingsley Coman, who was available to Bayern for the first time, Sánchez added: “I’m not just pleased with the in-game team, but also my teammates.”

Matchday 6 against Milan

Following the conclusion of the fifth round of matches, FC Bayern Esports are in second place on 28 points, behind league leaders FC Barcelona (32 points). The next matchday takes place on 13 May, when Bayern take on AC Milan. "We're confident because we're working a lot," said Sánchez looking ahead. "We're a real team, help one another, train together a lot. It will certainly be a tough battle against Milan, though, because they have a strong in-game team and also need the points to finish in the top six."

Of the eight clubs in the eFootball Championship Pro 2023, the top six will qualify for the knockout round, which will be played on 24 June. The top two advance directly to the semi-finals. Places seven and eight are eliminated.
