Marienplatz given over to FC Bayern - Public viewing on town hall balcony

There’s an exciting weekend of football coming up - and both FC Bayern’s men’s and women’s teams have the chance to become champions. If they're successful, the City of Munich will invite them to the traditional reception on the town hall balcony on Sunday, and this year, Marienplatz will be given over to the Reds throughout the afternoon. From 14:00 CEST, the FC Bayern Women's season finale against Turbine Potsdam will be broadcast from the FC Bayern Campus on a big screen. Berni will be on hand to get everyone in the mood and will be joined by his mascot colleague Mia later. If there's something to celebrate, whether it's one title or two, the champions will add to the atmosphere of the fan party in Munich from 17:30.

Herbert Hainer Marienplatz Munich

President Herbert Hainer at FC Bayern's 2022 championship celebrations - "We're hoping for a big celebration along with the fans, whether with one or two teams."

President Herbert Hainer: "We’re all hoping and wishing that FC Bayern can celebrate two championship trophies with its fans this Sunday at the end of what’s been an exciting season. This weekend we have to give everything in the final push for the titles. We're keeping our fingers crossed for our men and our women and are hoping for a big celebration together with the fans, whether with one or two teams - preferably with everyone together, of course."

Charter buses from the FC Bayern Campus to Marienplatz

To ensure everyone who is at the Campus for the FC Bayern Women's match gets the chance to join in the celebrations on Marienplatz, the German record champions will be laying on additional charter buses to take fans from the FC Bayern Campus to Odeonsplatz in the city centre after the final whistle. From there, it’s only a few minutes' walk to the town hall.

Previously, in 2015 and 2016, the FC Bayern men's and women's teams stood together on the town hall balcony with their respective Meisterschalen to celebrate with the fans. In 2021, when both teams also won the title, the joint party had to be cancelled due to the COVID pandemic. The images of the players in traditional Bavarian costume are beamed around the world on special days of celebration like these from the town hall balcony in the heart of Munich.
