FC Bayern are away to FC Preußen Münster at the start of the 2023/2024 DFB Cup competition. That was the outcome of the draw on Sunday evening shown on sportstudio reportage on ZDF with the ties drawn by pole vaulter Sarah Vogel and the DFB president Bernd Neuendorf.
Second DFB Cup tie
The only previous meeting with the team from Münster was nine years ago – also in the DFB Cup. In the first round in the 2014/2015 season, the 20-time cup winners beat the team from North Rhine Westphalia 4-1 with goals from Mario Götze, Thomas Müller, David Alaba and Claudio Pizarro.
The only previous meeting nine years ago saw FCB win 4-1 with Thomas Müller scoring in the comfortable victory.
First round tie on 26 or 27 September
While the majority of the first round ties will be played from 11 to 14 August, the German record champions only enter the competition on 26 or 27 September: The reason for that is the DFL Supercup between the reigning champions of Germany and the DFB Cup holders RB Leipzig on 12 August (20:45 CEST).
