Coman and Pavard victorious with France

Kingsley Coman, France

Kingsley Coman assisted the opening goal for France in Gibraltar.

France made it three wins from three games in UEFA EURO 2024 qualifying with a comfortable 3-0 victory in Gibraltar. Olivier Giroud (3') and Kylian Mbappé (45'+3) gave Les Bleus a two-goal lead at half-time, with an own goal from Aymen Mouelhi (78') completing a deserved success.

From a Bayern point of view, Kingsley Coman, who provided the assist for the first goal, and Benjamin Pavard were both in Didier Deschamps' starting XI. Dayot Upamecano didn't feature in Gibraltar, though.

Sommer watches Swiss win

Switzerland also played their third fixture in qualifying for next summer's EURO in Germany. The Nati came through a tough test in Andorra to claim a hard-fought 2-1 win thanks to goals from Remo Freuler (7') and Zeki Amdouni (32'). Bayern goalkeeper Yann Sommer was an unused substitute.

Tel agonisingly close to final

France U18 and Mathys Tel suffered a painful defeat in the semi-finals of the prestigious Maurice Revello Tournament in Salon-de-Provence, France. The French youngsters twice fought back – including a penalty from Tel – to draw 2-2 in normal time against the Mexico U23 team and take the game to penalties.

However, the South Americans demonstrated the better nerves in the shootout, with goalkeeper Arturo Delgado Covarrubias making two saves. Tel, who played 82 minutes, and Co now take on Australia U23 in the third place playoff on Sunday.
