
A great honour for Jamal Musiala: the 20-year-old FC Bayern attacker was named 'Outstanding Young Sportsperson' at the Bavarian Sports Awards at the weekend. The Germany international scored the winning goal that earned the German record champions their 11th straight Bundesliga title in Cologne in late May.

At this year's 22nd Sports Award ceremony, Joachim Herrmann, Bavarian State Minister of the Interior, Sports and Integration, honoured distinguished sportsmen and sportswomen in seven categories for their outstanding achievements and exemplary initiatives in the field of sport. Former Germany and FC Bayern players Thomas Hitzelsperger and Olaf Thon gave the laudatory speech for Musiala.

Musiala: I'm enjoying the moment
"It's nice to see so many prize winners. I'm just enjoying the moment," said a pleased Musiala. "An award like this is something to be proud of. The prize is a motivation for me to keep working hard and getting better. Now the focus is fully on the forthcoming season." Minister Herrmann described the 20-year-old as "FC Bayern's big hope for the future", adding: "Jamal has performed brilliantly of late."
