FC Bayern have had an intense and eventful few days. The German champions completed this year's Audi Summer Tour in Tokyo and Singapore. At a get-together with German media representatives on Wednesday, executive vice-chairman Dr Michael Diederich, marketing director Andreas Jung and senior vice-president Prof Dr Dieter Mayer summed up the tour.
Reaction to the end of the Audi Summer Tour
Dr Michael Diederich, executive vice-chairman: "The Audi Summer Tour was a resounding success for us, with all the encounters we were able to have. The highlights for me personally were the games with the enormous number of over 160,000 spectators in total. Our trip was taken under the motto 'A way to inspire' - cultural exchange and togetherness are very important to us. We received a very warm welcome everywhere we went, including from the governor in Tokyo and the two German embassies. We realised once again how important personal contacts are, especially after the COVID pandemic, and that German football could set out again to open up international markets. The Southeast Asian region has terrific dynamism and is a pace-setter. It's important that we keep pace internationally."
Andreas Jung, marketing director: "The interest in football and FC Bayern in this region is very high. The reaction of the fans in both countries showed that it was the right decision to come here. The high number of spectators at our matches and also the fact our jerseys sold out quickly showed how popular FC Bayern i in this region. We believe it is extremely important to travel and seek direct encounters with the people in the different regions."
Prof Dr Dieter Mayer, senior vice-president: "On what was already our eighth Audi Summer Tour, the goal was also to enter into a dialogue with our international fans. We want to meet them, get to know them, be close to them. Our roots are in Bavaria and Munich, our Bavarian homeland is an essential part of our identity. But on this tour we were able to experience again that we have fans all over the world, only very few of whom can come to Säbener Straße or the Allianz Arena. As the largest club in the world with over 300,000 members, we have the duty and the task to go to our fans. We want to convey our philosophy here, the 'Mia san Mia', shape the familial character and create a sense of closeness. We've succeeded in doing that well. Now we're going home with a very good feeling and after gaining a lot of insights. The name of Singapore's national anthem is 'Forward Singapore'. It is also our task to take FC Bayern forward and keep it at the top."
