De Ligt started his career in the various youth teams of renowned Dutch club Ajax. In 2017, he made the step up to the first team and played there for two years before moving to Juventus. The Dutchman  has integrated well into the team during his first year at FCB and is well-liked by both the fans and his teammates. The 24-year-old already gained leadership experience in previous teams and set some remarkable records in the process. Among other things, he was the first minor to captain a team in professional football in the Netherlands and the youngest-ever captain of Ajax. Interestingly, de Ligt was more inclined towards tennis as a child, as his parents Frank and Vivian were both keen players.
