Manuel Neuer is set to make his return to action in the Bayern goal against Darmstadt on Saturday, as Thomas Tuchel confirmed at his press conference on Friday. The club’s No.1 completed training in the afternoon without any problems. “I can feel his excitement and his class. He’s enjoying it right now and can be proud of himself,” Tuchel stated. “His comeback is very impressive. I’m confident he’ll quickly get back into top shape.”
It will mark 350 days since the 37-year-old last featured for Bayern in the 2-0 win at Schalke in November 2022 as he now returns to action in front of a home crowd at the Allianz Arena.
“I’m really excited about returning. It’s the greatest thing being on the pitch with your team,” the five-time world’s best goalkeeper said. Sven Ulreich has deputised this season while Neuer continued his long recovery. The FCB skipper said of his goalkeeping colleague: “He’s played a big part in the fact we’ve a good start to the season. Everyone in the club knows he’s a safe pair of hands.”
