Bayern are through to the knockout stage of the Champions League as Group A winners thanks to a 2-1 win at home to Galatasaray. It saw the German giants continue some remarkable record-breaking runs in the competition.
Permanent fixture in knockouts
It’s the 16th year in a row Bayern have advanced to the knockout rounds of the Champions League. Since the introduction of a round of 16 in 2003/04, FCB have reached that stage in each of their 20 Champions League participations.
Always off to a flyer
It’s the fifth year in a row and eighth time overall that Bayern have won their first four games of a Champions League campaign – no other team has done so as often.
Group records extended
Bayern have now won each of their last 17 fixtures in the Champions League group stage. It also extended the team’s unbeaten run at this phase of the competition to 38 matches – both are all-time Champions League records.
Fortress Allianz Arena
Bayern’s record at home in the group stage is also phenomenal, earning 85 of a possible 87 points from the last 29 such fixtures here (W28, D1). Ajax in 2018 are the only team to leave Munich with a point since the start of 2013/14.
