Prior to kick-off in Bayern’s final home game of 2023 against VfB Stuttgart, president Herbert Hainer, CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen, sporting director Christoph Freund and director of youth development Jochen Sauer welcomed the club’s U17 World Cup winners Max Schmitt, Maximilian Hennig, Robert Ramsak and Kurt Rüger onto the Allianz Arena pitch. The four youngsters received engraved watches in front of the 75,000 crowd to remind them of their victory with Germany a few weeks ago.
Hainer reminded the crowd that Schmitt, Hennig and Ramsak had also won the Euros last summer: “We’re proud of these young players. It says a lot for the work at the FC Bayern Campus when we can develop players who can already make their mark at international level at a young age. Young players like them give us hope for the future at Bayern.” Dreesen added that the task now with the four players is to “gradually introduce them to higher levels. We want to integrate more young players in our first team again in the future, and these four boys have all it takes. They need to continue working hard on themselves, and then we’ll have a lot of joy with them. The goal has to be for us to see them here on the Allianz Arena pitch, but as players.”
