Thomas Müller signs contract extension at FC Bayern

FC Bayern have extended the contract of Thomas Müller by a further season until 30 June 2025. The forward originally joined the club at the age of 10 from TSV Pähl, coming through the youth ranks and making his senior debut in 2008.

Herbert Hainer, president: “Thomas Müller belongs to FC Bayern like the Frauenkirche to Munich. He was born just outside the city, grew up at this club and is already a legend while still playing. Very few players achieve that. His career is littered with records in the history books. FC Bayern has been shaped by many people, and there will never again be a player like Thomas Müller.”

Jan-Christian Dreesen, CEO: “Thomas Müller showed once again on Sunday just how valuable he is to our team. He’s unique to FC Bayern as a player, a person and a figure of identification. Someone who never hides away, even when it might hurt, who always leads with full motivation. He’s also a great communicator, who’s always good for a quote and enjoys his work. Müller remains the ‘M’ in ‘Mia san Mia’. We don’t just wish him an extremely successful time at Bayern but also with the national team.”

Christoph Freund, sporting director: “We’re very pleased that Thomas Müller will be staying at FC Bayern for another season. He’s a leader both on and off the pitch, always a role model and incredibly valuable for the entire team. Thomas pushes every team with his open and positive manner on and off the pitch. The way he plays is extremely clever, for the team, and he’s very versatile in where he can play. Thomas is also almost never injured, always there – just quality and reliability personified.”

Thomas Müller: “I’m happy my journey at FC Bayern is continuing. I want to play my part in us remaining successful, both as a team and the whole club. It’s important to me to be a foundation and to help steer the team in the right direction. I want to excite our fans with goals, helping create goals, my love of the game, my passion for football – and hopefully with many more titles.”
