FC Bayern began their preparations for the first Bundesliga game of 2024 in winterly conditions at Säbener Straße on Monday. With four days to go until the clash with Hoffenheim at the Allianz Arena, head coach Thomas Tuchel got his players into a sweat in temperatures below freezing in Munich. The 50-year-old and his squad will have one training session per day until the resumption of the campaign on Friday evening.
Laimer back
After Saturday’s 1-1 friendly draw against Basel, the focus for the hour-long session on Monday was on various match scenarios. Konrad Laimer, who missed the game in Switzerland with a slight knee issue, was once again involved. Noussair Mazraoui completed an individual session in the morning ahead of his departure to the Africa Cup of Nations. Minjae Kim (Asian Cup), Bouna Sarr (cruciate ligament), Serge Gnabry (muscular) and Daniel Peretz (knee) were all missing.
After their first competitive fixture of the year, Bayern will be heading to a training camp in Faro, Portugal from 14 to 18 January. They are next in action at home to Werder Bremen on Sunday, 21 January.
