FC Bayern have signed Eric Dier from Tottenham Hotspur on a deal until 30 June 2024, with the option for a further year. The England international defender will wear the No.15 shirt in Munich.
Christoph Freund, FC Bayern sporting director: “We’re pleased we’ve been able to sign Eric Dier. He’s long been in our thinking for this transfer window. Eric will be a valuable part of our defence. His sporting abilities and international experience will help the team both on the pitch and in the changing room.”
Eric Dier: “This move is a dream come true for me, because as a child you want to play for a club like Bayern one day. Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world and has an incredible history. I want to help the team with my versatility in defence. I’m really looking forward to my new teammates and the fans at the Allianz Arena, which in my eyes is one of the best stadiums in the world.”

The 29-year-old’s career began in Portugal, where the Englishman had moved with his family as a child. He came through the youth academy at Sporting Lisbon and signed his first professional contract at the club. After an 18-month loan spell with Everton’s youth teams back in England, Dier made his senior debut with Sporting in August 2012. He returned back to his homeland for the 2014/15 season with Tottenham, where he has since made 365 competitive appearances, scoring 13 goals. The defensive all-rounder made his senior debut for England in 2015, winning 49 caps to date (three goals) and featuring at the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, as well as Euro 2016.
