If you've found a successful recipe, there's no need to change it. This applies not only to cooking, but to football as well – at least when you're talking about Jamal Musiala and Leroy Sané. On Friday evening, Bayern fans were twice able to celebrate a Musiala goal following an assist by Leroy Sané. It seems apparent that these two players are simply a natural fit.
Musiala: I really enjoyed it
“It was a great game and I really enjoyed it,” Musiala declared after the very successful evening. The attacking player was celebrating for the first time after 18 minutes, when Sané played a wonderful through-ball following a short corner. The 20-year-old had space to take a shot on goal and scored into the far corner. “All credit goes to Anthony Barry. He has some great ideas,” Musiala said, mentioning Bayern's assistant coach and set-piece expert as an added reason for the win. “We practised in training how to be more unpredictable. That worked very well today.”
After the break, Musiala scored his second goal of the evening. Following a feint, he played a one-two with Sané and tapped in the second. With this goal, the youngster completed the fourth brace of his Bundesliga career. The last time he accomplished this feat was during the 8-0 win against Darmstadt in October. Unsurprisingly, his gratitude went out to the provider: “We're really good friends and have a great connection. We love playing together,” the two-goal hero revealed: “We're both very strong in possession. It's really fun playing with Leroy.”
New personal best for Sané
Musiala isn't the only one enjoying Leroy Sané in top shape. The winger contributed assists number nine and ten this Bundesliga season. The 28-year-old now leads the Bundesliga in this category and has already celebrated a new personal best.
Even if Musiala and Sané stood out in the duel with Hoffenheim due to their evident joy of playing, one man in attack should not go unmentioned. Harry Kane finished off the home match against Hoffenheim with the third goal after 90 minutes. It was already the 22nd goal of the season for the English marksman. Kane has now already scored as many goals as Robert Lewandowski in the first half of his record-breaking 2020/2021 season and, after only 16 matches, he still has one Bundesliga game in hand to set a new Hinrunde scoring record.
