There was good news from the training ground at Säbener Straße on Friday as Joshua Kimmich started running for the first time since his shoulder injury sustained in the 1-0 win at home to Union Berlin in the Bundesliga. The 28-year-old was doing laps as he stepped up his comeback prior to the team’s final training session in the afternoon ahead of Saturday’s league game at home to Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Freund: “Jo is a fighter”
“Jo can deal with pain well. He’s a fighter. He’s done some exercises already. We need to take things a day at a time in terms of what’s possible with the pain. Jo is very positive, and we’ll see how things look next week,” said sporting director Christoph Freund at Friday’s press conference.
