The fact that the Bayern fans want to play a part in their team advancing past Lazio to the quarter final of the Champions League was made more than clear this evening, even before kick-off. After the 1-0 defeat in Rome, the FCB supporters showed their support before the second leg with an impressive tifo, a choreographed display, at home in the Allianz Arena. In large white lettering on a black background at the bottom of the tifo was written the motto of the evening: “Im Namen der Stadt” (In the name of the city). Above this, the Münchner Kindl - the city’s heraldic figure - stretched across the entire display to provide a boost of extra motivation for the players.
