FC Bayern are loaning Franz Krätzig, 21, to VfB Stuttgart for one season. The defensive player is set to gain further experience at the Swabian club in the Bundesliga and Champions League. Last season, he was on at Austria Wien in the Austrian Bundesliga.
Christoph Freund, FC Bayern sporting director: “A lot happened for Frans last year, from his Bundesliga debut to his first professional contract with FC Bayern and then the second half of the season at Austria Wien – and it all started with his spectacular winning goal on the Audi Summer Tour against Liverpool. He quickly integrated at Austria Wien thanks to his footballing qualities and his character. VfB Stuttgart now offer him the best opportunities to take the next step and further establish himself in professional football.”
Krätzig is part of the first year group who moved into the newly built FC Bayern Campus in 2017. He earned a professional contract with the German record champions last summer and has so far made seven competitive appearances in Munich (one goal). He’s featured a total of 35 times for the FC Bayern reserve team, scoring three goals. For Austrian record title winners Austria Wien, he played 17 times and netted once. Krätzig has also scored one goal in eight games for the German U20 team, having made his debut last September.
