Gustavo Telles – FC Bayern World Squad No.5

Olá, my name is Gustavo and I come from a small town near Belo Horizonte in Brazil. I'm very happy to be part of the World Squad again this year. I had a lot of great moments with my teammates and the coaches last season. One of the best moments was the final whistle in the match against Bayern’s U19s - we beat them, I scored a goal, we were just so happy.

Over the past 12 months, I've worked a lot on myself, played for my club in Brazil and improved my English. As captain of the Class of ‘23, I've realised that it's important to speak English well as a World Squad player in order to be able to communicate with everyone.

I've been in Munich for a while now to prepare for the trip with the World Squad. I love the city, it's just beautiful, but my favourite place is actually a bit outside, the Allianz Arena – for me the best and most beautiful stadium in the world. But I also enjoy spending time in the Englischer Garten and discovering new places. Although I really feel at home here, I do miss my family a lot. When I'm not training or exploring the city, I'm often on the phone to my parents.

My plan for the upcoming trip is to give my all at the TST tournament and the matches against Inter Miami and D.C. United. My goal is to play well and maybe end up signing a contract with FC Bayern or another big European club. That is my dream. I'm looking forward to the challenge ahead. It's important that we put in a good performance from match one onwards to build confidence for the matches that follow. I've had the chance to get to know this year's squad over the last few days, and it was great to see old friends like Ignacio again. It was also great fun to train under Roy again. We arrived in North Carolina yesterday and I'm so excited about the next few days, the TST tournament and the upcoming games.

All the best from North Carolina,
Gustavo
