New FC Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany’s coaching staff has been confirmed. The 38-year-old will be supported in Munich by assistant coaches Aaron Danks, René Marić and Floribert N’Galula. Bram Geers as fitness coach and Rodyse Munienge as personal assistant complete the Belgian’s backroom team.
Who are Vincent Kompany's assistants at Bayern?
Birmingham-born Danks, 41, began his coaching career at West Bromwich Albion and then worked for the English Football Association in various positions, including for the U20 and U21 teams, before working with Kompany for the first time as assistant coach at RSC Anderlecht in the 2021/22 season. After that, he was on the staff as an assistant at Aston Villa under Steven Gerrard, Dean Smith and Unai Emery, also acting as interim coach of the Premier League club during that time. His most recent position was as assistant coach of Middlesbrough FC in England’s second division.
Marić, 31, joined the German record champions last autumn as team leader for coaching development and playing philosophy. Before that, he worked as assistant head coach at English club Leeds United as well as at Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Mönchengladbach and in the Salzburg academy. As assistant to Kompany, he will continue to work in his previous role for the FC Bayern Campus, acting as a link between the first team and the youth department. His position as coach of the U19 team, which he held in the second half of last season, will be taken over by current U17 boss Peter Gaydarov.
N’Galula, born in Brussels, began his playing career in the Anderlecht academy and then spent four years at Manchester United. He went on to have spells in Denmark, Netherlands and Belgium, among others. The 37-year-old was coach at BX Brussels before working as assistant coach of both the U21s and first team at Anderlecht. He followed Kompany to English club Burnley FC ahead of the 2022/23 season.
Geers and Munienge previously worked under Kompany at Anderlecht and Burnley. The new FCB coach and his backroom team will meet the players on 15 July for the start of pre-season.
